What it costs

Tuition (non-EU)

Semesterbeitrag
470 EUR per semester

“You will pay a contribution of approx. 470 EUR per semester. This is a contribution to student services, the student council and university administration. It includes a culture ticket and a ticket for public transport. You can use local public transport in Hildesheim and across Germany free of charge. You benefit from discounts on meals at the university cafeteria and other services.” www2.daad.de
Application fee
75 EUR for the first application, then 30 each

Charged per semester and non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Ten programmes would be 345 EUR.

Tuition-free does not mean free: the Semesterbeitrag is payable every semester even where tuition is €0, and it moves on the calendar year because the transit ticket does.

15 July and 15 January are conventions, not facts — uni-assist’s own wording is oft am 15. Juli, and it warns that institutions increasingly set earlier dates. Where a programme uses uni-assist, its deadline runs earlier still. Always confirm on the institution’s page.
