“Administration fee of approx. 160 EUR per semester This encompasses the contribution to the student union (responsible for cafeterias, housing opportunities and more student services) as well as the semester ticket (for public transport).” www2.daad.de
- Application fee
- 75 EUR for the first application, then 30 each
Charged per semester and non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Ten programmes would be 345 EUR.
Tuition-free does not mean free: the Semesterbeitrag is payable every semester even where tuition is €0, and it moves on the calendar year because the transit ticket does.

15 July and 15 January are conventions, not facts — uni-assist’s own wording is oft am 15. Juli, and it warns that institutions increasingly set earlier dates. Where a programme uses uni-assist, its deadline runs earlier still. Always confirm on the institution’s page.
