What it costs

Tuition (non-EU)

not recordedcheck the source

Semesterbeitrag

350 EUR per semester

SS2026 · unverified

source

“A semester fee of approx. 350 EUR is required upon registration/enrolment as a student or doctoral researcher. This fee covers transport by bus, tram, and regional trains within North Rhine-Westphalia for the entire semester as well as the use of student facilities at discounted prices.” www2.daad.de

Application fee

75 EUR for the first application, then 30 each

Charged per semester and non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Ten programmes would be 345 EUR.

Tuition-free does not mean free: the Semesterbeitrag is payable every semester even where tuition is €0, and it moves on the calendar year because the transit ticket does.

Deadlines

not recorded check the source

15 July and 15 January are conventions, not facts — uni-assist’s own wording is oft am 15. Juli, and it warns that institutions increasingly set earlier dates. Where a programme uses uni-assist, its deadline runs earlier still. Always confirm on the institution’s page.
