“Bielefeld University does not charge tuition fees, every student only has to pay a social fee. The social fee includes the contribution to the social ticket for free public transport in Germany for the whole semester. The current semester contribution is approximately 333 EUR.” www2.daad.de
Application fee
75 EUR for the first application, then 30 each

Charged per semester and non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Ten programmes would be 345 EUR.

Tuition-free does not mean free: the Semesterbeitrag is payable every semester even where tuition is €0, and it moves on the calendar year because the transit ticket does.

15 July and 15 January are conventions, not facts — uni-assist’s own wording is oft am 15. Juli, and it warns that institutions increasingly set earlier dates. Where a programme uses uni-assist, its deadline runs earlier still. Always confirm on the institution’s page.
